Legacy admission into post-grad programs?

Hey all,
This is my first post on this site, and I apologize in advance if this thread isn’t located in the proper forum. Maybe an admin can move it if not, but hopefully someone here can help answer my question. I just graduated from high school in Tennessee and will be attending the University of Tennessee in the fall studying economics in the honors college. I’ve always been a natural leader and would like to take that skill and work my way up the corporate ladder to a higher level administrative position within a company. It’s my belief (and please, correct me if I’m wrong) that the fastest way to accomplish this goal would be to receive an M.B.A. from an elite business school. Now on to my question: I’m a Yale legacy, but does the legacy boosted acceptance rate apply to post-graduate studies as well? My dad received a masters in music performance from the Yale School of Music, and I’m wondering if this even boosts my chances of acceptance into the Yale School of Management at all. I’m still going to work my butt off during my undergrad regardless, but I’m just kind of curious to know. Thanks in advance guys.

Yale SOM won’t care if you are a Yale legacy. The legacy boost is a tip factor for undergrad admissions.

Not in this case. Some graduate schools may give preference if you go to the same school undergraduate. But once you have gone to college, you have established your own legacy. I don’t think graduate applications even ask for parental information.

I can only answer this for the law school. Yale Law gives preference to the children of Yale Law grads. An undergrad degree or one from a different grad or professional school within Yale received by a parent doesn’t help at all.
