How much does this factor into admissions? Does anyone have any statistics? I’ve heard that at places like Harvard this adds a nice little bump and makes admission more realistic. I know that it’s not like being a child of an alumni will guarantee admission or replace a poor GPA, but surely it’s got to do something. Also how can Stanford deny me if I was born on their campus? =)

They can’t. You’re in.

Seriously - legacy is a tip factor, but it won’t make up for bad stats. And no, there is no “Law of Return” at Stanford…
