Legacy Impact/Rowing Recruiting

Ok so I have 2 questions:

1) My great-grandfather was the dean of Amherst College for 20 years or so, and there is a frat and an award named after my family. Also my step-mom is a trusty at Bates. Here is some info about me…and based off of that how much of an impact will my family name have?
Im going into my Junior year
I have about a B average (taking one AP this year coming up)
I go to one of the top private schools in the boston area
Im on 2 varsity teams and one JV
Im trying to start a Ski Club, and will work for the paper next year
Havent taken the PSATs or anything yet

2) My second question is about being recruited for rowing. I coxed these past 2 years (frosh, soph) but will row next year, what do colleges look at for recruiting? and just the what the whole process is like.

I know this is sort of early for me to be thinking about this but any answers would be greatly apprecitaed

Those Legacies are definately a big deal. The only thing that really matters in rowing are your erg times. Im guessing that you are probably small since you were a cox the past 2 years but rowing is huge in admissions. Just focus on getting your grades up for the next year.

thank you!! ya thats what I’ve been told by mi parents, i’ll do my best!
