Legacy Question

Did any other legacy out there get a letter from admissions with “FAQ for Legacy” attachment? The cover letter was an original signed by admissions officer. Didn’t think they would have time for something like this!! It was nice though…

We got it. It is a very helpful yet generic letter that attempts to address questions around the legacy issue.

Legacy matters…but you have to have what it takes to get noticed and to help you stand out… I think of legacy as being the final feather that can come down and tip a scale… most applicants will take any and all feathers that will tip the scale in an acceptance direction.

Good luck…

Parents of legacies who applied SCEA also got this letter.

Sorry to change the subject a little but…

Would my brother be considered a legacy if I am attending Yale at the time he applies? (In two years.)

Got it and was deferred. Others got it and were accepted. Still others got it and were rejected.

All it means is that you were correctly processed as a legacy applicant.

Any ideas on reasonable SAT scores for a good chance of admission for a legacy? GPA is top of class in most demanding IB diploma curriculum and student has pretty unique and interesting life experiences/extracurriculars. January SAT (1st try as a junior) was CR: 700, Math: 760, Writing: 720. How much higher do they need to get?
