I'm just curious if anyone knows what effect, if any, being a legacy has on admissions. I would not say I'm a weak applicant, but I may be just under the 50th percentile for them. My father went there for his undergrad degree and gives regularly (albeit not large sums) and was wondering whether that could help my application any. I apologize if this is a stupid question or whether it's petty of me hoping to get an edge from being a legacy.

Usually it helps a little. IMO, you can expect a small boost from that
