Legacy

How much weight does Cornell place on legacy status during the admissions process? I’ve already sent in my application. I am a legacy, even though my dad doesn’t do much for the university other than conduct interviews for undergrad applicants and donate a little every now and then. I’ve heard that Ivies place more importance on legacy status than other universities, Cornell especially. Is there any truth to this?

If you are qualified for admittance, legacy status at Cornell might tip the scale in your favor.
But you still might be denied admission
If you are not qualified., it won’t help at all. But you will get a nice rejection letter acknowledging how competitive admission to Cornell has become
