Legacy?

How much will it help me if I had a parent attend CMC?

44 views and 0 responses? can i get a guess?

Well, you wanted a guess: judging from what I know about small, prestigious liberal arts colleges VS exorbitantly-endowed Ivy League-esque colleges, legacy admissions are somewhat less important for practical/economic considerations. Like, most people agree that Yale has a vested interest in keeping its wealthy, influential alumni happy by accepting their kids, as long as they’re smart enough. I, for one, don’t get this impression from a school like CMC.

So, it certainly won’t hurt, but it probably isn’t something to count on as a deciding factor. Again, this evaluation is based completely on generalizations about the nature of this kind of school. I -could- be way off.

another thing is that claremont is a relatively young college.

i dont know how that will affect it, btu im sure it does.

Straight from the CMC Web site:
Are sons and daughters of alumni given special consideration?

Only in case of a “tie” between applications. If two acceptable applicants have similar qualifications and one is the son or daughter of an alumnus, preference is given to the son or daughter of the alum.

Well that’s better than nothing.
Thanks, gettinin
