Legacy

My grandfather went to Yale, was wondering if that makes any impact on admissions there these days.

Unless he somehow benefited the university as an alumnus, either through a major donation or through personal fame (it’s a benefit to the college to have a grad who is, say, president), I don’t see it as having any major impact on your application.

It has a benefit. Obviously not as significant as it would if he were a big donor or famous but it has a tangible (if not that large) effect

Not really. A one-time legacy bears very little weight.
