Right…then she’ll have to learn how to say Hah-vahd Yahd like a true Bostonian. :D

:) !!! Raght you ah, Soozie!

My mom is from Savannah, Ga and says “wont” for “want” so maybe that’s why I notice it so much.

I must say, show 7 was interesting. I watched the full performances online and then the full episode. Riannon is SUCH a weak singer, but she was very “on” and her audition seemed to be endearing to the judges. I thought Lauren had some nice little details in her audition, but the judges seemed underwhelmed. I love Autumn’s singing and acting, but her poor hair looks like straw, and sometimes she seems so desperate. Oh my gosh, I’m officially hooked on a reality show! Ack! :)

This from a “southerner” who loves southern accents but understands the need to speak “standard american english” as someone portraying a character on stage: I respectfully request ya’ll lay off Bailey! :)

Also, in an early episode, she actually won an acting challenge precisely because she was able to loose the accent in the scene they were performing. So I’ll bet she is pretty coachable in this regard.

All that being said, I still have not watched the latest episode and may also be appalled at her enunciation… I am a choir director and often have to work with my wonderful members to single-syllable words without sliding into the easy southern diphthong…

churchmusicmom…i also love a good southern accent and find it very attractive. but, for elle…maybe not so much. i actually go to school with bailey at coastal carolina. i had mt scene study with her last fall semester and have no doubt that she could lose the accent as she showed during the episode with the acting challenge. she is very talented and im keeping my fingers crossed… :)

How cool, theatreJock, that you go to school with Bailey! I also am sure she can lose the accent should she get the role. It will be interesting to see what happens!

My husband announced, after their auditions tonight, that “Autumn Leaves.” I yelled at him to quit joking around. But he wasn’t… :(

It’s okay, Autumn is gonna be the understudy for her anyway.

I read that Bailey is contracted a 2 week run with the potential for extension after that… anyone hear that also!?

^^^ Yes, I read the same thing on another board. I’m just so disappointed that Autumn didn’t win! I thought her voice was outstanding, and her acting was very genuine and endearing. If I had to choose a Broadway newcomer to entrust with a multi-million dollar production, I’d have picked her way back on week two. I wish her much success.

yay for my classmate bailey! she is officially the first student from the young musical theatre program of Coastal Carolina to be on Broadway…STAR on Broadway!!!

Although Autumn had a great voice, I thought Bailey had much stronger stage presence. I also thought Autumn was a bit “mature” and did not sell me on the sorority girl character. I did like her hair straight, though, and last night I thought she looked the part for the first time.

I also thought that Autumn appeared more mature and sort of “above” the sorority antics of the character. Bailey, however, nailed it. And her dancing and stage movement in general just looked very relaxed and “on”.

Also, according to what was published in an article that I just read, Bailey is signed to a six month contract to play the role on Broadway.

Congratulations to Bailey! What a tough audition! I think she will do really well in the role. I also think there is something else out there that is better suited to Autumn’s strengths. All of the judges were so impressed with her voice, I’m sure they will be keeping her at the top of their list for other shows.

I agreee CA-mom…I am sure Autumn will be on their minds for something else as she has such a tremendous voice. She is so talented but I could never see her as Elle. I agree that she seemed too mature and not as spirited or spunky as Bailey.

I haven’t been watching this show but wondered how old Autumn is. Everyone says she’s too mature, but LBB is 27. Is Autumn older than that? In any case, she’ll have a role in the ensemble and cover the Elle track. It will be interesting to see how much longer this show lasts.

Autumn is also 27 and will certainly do a great job as Elle if she steps in! She is very talented! LBB and Reese Witherspoon do have a younger energy to them that I personally thought Autumn was missing. But when it comes to true overall talent…I think Autumn wins! I just think Bailey is a better Elle. Not that my opinion means much of anything though! :)

I absolutely agree that Autumns voice was the stronger of the two finalists.

And I thought they said Autumn is 28, not that it makes that much difference. I get the feeling that she was that mature even at 24 or 25! A very impressive young lady…

You know I thought they said she was 28 too but when I checked her bio on MTV.com (because I wanted to make sure to get those facts correctly) it said 27. Maybe she had a birthday during the run of the show.

Haha. Well, 27 or 28 it really does not make that much difference. Not sure why I even brought it up. Just was proud I remembered, I guess!

Autumn just has a sense of, well, poise and dignity that I think made it more difficult for her to seem as natural in the giggly/silly/sorority girl scenes during the audition, though my guess is that with more rehearsal time (and under less intense pressure), she could have nailed it. But I think that the above posters are correct in that the “panel” will keep her in mind for other roles in the future, which is huge.
