Lehigh class of 2016!

@mumof2boyz
Thank you so much! A couple a girls from my school, Iolani, attend Lehigh. They’re all super chill and smart.

Can not decide between Penn State or Lehigh High. Got no scholarship from neither. What one should I decide on?

Hey webtrails,

Lehigh is obviously academically better than Penn State - we’re a much smaller, private university with a student-oriented program. All I ever hear about Penn State is its brutal weed-out courses.

However, Lehigh is much more expensive. Even if you’re out-of-state, Lehigh can be two or three times more costly than Penn State. And since you received no scholarships from either institution, that’s a tough financial decision that you have to make with your family. Lehigh might be worth the bigger investment - but that depends entirely on your financial situation. Good luck making your decision.

Best,

Did any waitlisters just get this email??

Greetings from Lehigh University. At this point, it appears that our office will not use the wait list as we had hoped due to the number of confirmations received through May 1st. Since you have demonstrated sincere interest in becoming a member of the Lehigh community, I invite you to enroll at Lehigh beginning with the spring semester in January 2013. Our office is making this opportunity available to a limited number of students like you because we know that your accomplishments and achievements will make you an outstanding member of the class.
Over the next few days, we will send you instructions about how to take advantage of this opportunity should you decide to accept this offer. You will receive these instruction in a letter no later than May 11, 2012. In the meantime, you can use the Fall 2012 Semester as a gap semester (work, travel or enroll part-time at another institution – fewer than 12 credit hours - if you choose). In addition, if space in the class becomes available this summer, we could possibly extend you an offer of admission to begin at Lehigh in fall. However, we have no way to determine if this will occur at this point.

Just deposited to Fordham yesterday, but now I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO.

@Ellimac When did you get that email? I got an email on the 26th saying that they were not sure whether the waitlist would be used and that notifications would be done through phone.

I didn’t get the one you posted…really hoping I do though! lol

Hi Ellimac6,

I’m surprised to hear you were accepted to Lehigh off the wait list. Usually a very, very small percentage of students are given offers, so I would consider myself fortunate in that regard. However, I’ve never heard of your kind of offer - starting in the spring. But it does sound like you’ve got a real chance of starting in the fall. I’d ask admissions how likely it is you would be enrolled in the fall.

If you like Lehigh as a better choice than Fordham, you could always go to Fordham in the fall and transfer out to Lehigh - but I know that wouldn’t be ideal.

As always, you need to sit down with your family and have a talk about it. This is a big decision - both are great schools but Lehigh is obviously extending you a great opportunity.

Best,

Ellimac6,

Must be a hard decision, Lehigh doesn’t usually admit many off the waitlist. But you should know that if you go to Fordham full time you would no longer be a waitlist student, you would probably have to re-apply as a transfer student. That is why the email from them says you can go to school as a part time student, less then 12 credits. Both are great schools, congratulations.

Yes! Ellimac6, my son got that email last night. Quite a surprise, never expected to see a Spring 2013 offer. He’s got a deposit at Northeastern but Lehigh was his top choice. He’s an engineering major. We are hoping a spot opens for Fall 2012 start, but plan to accept the offer for Spring 2013. Trying to decide what to do in the meantime. Congrats to you on both schools and good luck!

I received the email yesterday around 6 pm!

I was gratified to be accepted (finally) but now more conflicted than ever, what with having to reconsider my decision. I love Lehigh but I’m unsure about how I’ll transition into the Spring semester with everyone else already making friends, etc. It will take another dinner table discussion!

Thanks for all the input- I appreciate it!! :)

Ellimac6! I received the same email and I already deposited at UMiami! Lehigh was my top choice and I was deferred ED I and then waitlisted. I am still extremely excited about this offer since it is my first choice. Im leaning towards Lehigh spring!!

Ellimac6 & gcollegeboy1211:

Did you both correspond with Admissions throughout the month of April?

This is great!! Congratulations! I’m still pretty unsure of what to do since I dont know how I would earn the 12 credits necessary during the time of the fall semester.

Yes, I stayed in touch with the representative from my area. I sent her 2 emails- the first after I was initially waitlisted and then one a week ago updating her on academic and extra curricular information!

Ellimac6: My son did the same. Now hoping to here some engineering students are enrolling with him in Jan 2013.

Sorry…The above should read HEAR

Since more students than were anticipated have accepted the offer of admission, I wonder if housing is going to be crowded for incoming freshmen? My son will be starting as a freshman in September.
