Lehigh Class of 2017!

Bonfire sounds pretty great, I think I’m probably going to visit the campus like next weekend. Just to motivate myself for school:P

UPenn hates my school - everyone who applied there got rejected, yet we have a kid who got accepted to Harvard and another kid who got accepted to Dartmouth.

So MIT has over 7000 applicants per year applying EA and still managed to get decisions out December 15 (today) which is on time even with the Sandy deadline extension. Lehigh has over 800 and still hasn’t been able to send out decisions.

A visit there would be good, too! I’ll probably do that in a month or so and buy myself more Lehigh crap :)

Jigar - my school only ever sends like 2 or 3 kids to Ivy’s each year. We are a notoriously bad school! We have had 2 Ivy League rejections and 1 acceptance so far.

But in Lehigh’s defense, MIT also has a ton more adcoms to read the higher volume of applications!

That’s true but I would think Lehigh would have the same ratio as MIT would have, but I guess not.

We have a lot of kids get into the Ivy’s which I guess reflects well on our school, but it’s also a big school.

And it might be better because at least Lehigh is taking their time and really reviewing each applicant well(:

I think I’m going to visit Lehigh when it’s really cold just so I get a sense of exactly how much I’ll be freezing to death.

Even Lehigh’s rival Lafayette started sending out their decisions today! Either there were too many applicants to process in the shortened time period or just too many qualified students making this first round extremely tough for them.

I’m not sure of the ratio but it’s probably similar, I guess! And yes, Lehigh probably spends more time on each than MIT does, which is good!

Also, lehighlove, your school is definitely the best public HS in the area - I’d so prefer to go there! Last year only 1 student got into an ivy league from here and this year only 5-7 are applying and 2 were already rejected!

You and I have an advantage with the notorious Lehigh winters, though! We’ve experienced them every year so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise at all :)

Yesterday was so cold in my morning I literally thought I was going to freeze. But because Lehigh is on a hill, that makes things so much worse!!

And yeah my high school is pretty great so far we have students who already got into Cornell, Yale, Columbia, and two got differed from Harvard.

But I will definitely like being close to home if I go to Lehigh, if I had a rough week I can just go home!

Lucky them! If I didn’t ED to Lehigh I would have to UPenn, though. And yeah, the proximity is the best  Being close enough to come home whenever we have to or want to is awesome! Some of my friends are going to need to spend tons of money on plane tickets to get home.

I will regret not applying to other colleges like Emory, Vanderbilt, Yale and UPenn (for the heck of it), Michigan, etc. because I have the “what if I applied and got in” thought stuck in my head.

Same… But UPenn is my dream med school more than anything, so I always have that to look forward to!

Columbia is my dream med school. And yeah sometimes I wonder the same because I know some of my scores are above lehigh’s, but I know Lehigh is the school for me(:

Yep! Lehigh’s just kind of perfect. I love when people ask “Why are you applying to Lehigh?” and I get to lecture them for a good 10 minutes :)

That is true - although I may dream/want to be at Yale, I know that Lehigh will be perfect for me. I have my reasons which other non Lehighers don’t understand.

Wow I never knew that so many people felt exactly the same as me… That’s cool! Anyway, I’m off for the night! Hopefully I wake up tomorrow to an email with a decision date!

I’ve already been accepted to a few schools, but none are as competitive as Lehigh, so I’m still not sure about an acceptance, but I’m just keeping my fingers crossed! I agree with what you say about that perfect feeling about Lehigh- I expected to hate it before I visited, and here I am, applying ED!

There is just a special feel about being at Lehigh that everyone talks about. It is very rare that siblings want to attend the same college as their older brother or sister but Lehigh always has an extremely large % of siblings and other relatives. There must be a reason they all say these are the best 4-5-6 (lol) years of their lives.

Definitely! That’s what my “Why Lehigh?” essay was about. I said how its amazing that everyone who goes there makes it part of their family, basically.

Anxiously waiting…only a few more days??
