Lehigh Class of 2017!

Tell me about it! All I can do is refresh the Lehigh portal. My teachers must hate me by now… This is what I’m doing during chem haha

Whenever I refresh my Lehigh Portal now, the Application Decision box keeps on saying “Forbidden” or “Not Found”.

Nevermind, its back to normal. I was hoping they were updating/posting decisions.

Last year, a good amount of students were deferred and rejected from Lehigh during the ED process because of the amount of financial need they need. Doesn’t that go against their need-blind policy where financial need does not take into consideration when it comes to admissions?

@Lehigh2017
Nope! I kinda wish I had but since I’m from California I didn’t want to bind my self somewhere without visiting. But I’m visiting on January 10th! And I’m pretty confident it’ll stay my top choice. Hopefully the RD round isnt insanely more competitive

Where did you get that information from, jigarpatel1995?

My experience has suggested to me that Lehigh gives the “first dibs” of aid to ED applicants. At least that was the case when I applied ED1. However, I have heard of transfers and internationals being denied because of large aid requests. But not so much with ED applicants.

Besides, doesn’t it make more sense that Lehigh would accept an ED and offer them slightly less then what they asked for versus flat out rejecting them?

hey good luck you guys. Lehigh is my top choice, but I’m only applying RD. but when you guys find out your admission decision, can you post it along with your stats? that way, i can get a good idea of who is getting accepted and use that to sway my parents towards letting me apply ED II. Either way, I hope to see all you guys on the hill next year ;)

If i take the math 2 and physics subject tests in january can i send those in? I already have a 680 in m2 but i dont think its good enough to submit

Edward -

We’ll definitely post our stats! If I’m rejected then I’ll probably postpone posting my stats for a week or so… But they’ll be here eventually! Why don’t your parents want you to apply EDI or EDII?

garciac -

If you applied EDI then it’s too late but if you’re doing EDII or RD than go ahead and send it! But just to be safe, as this question to your adcom at Lehigh, too.

I guess they were international students because one was from Thailand.

All anyone can say for when decisions come out is “sometime next week” or “there is no specific date yet”.

Thanks lehigh2017! What did you guys get on your subject tests if you dont mind me asking? Is my 680 good enough?

I got like 1400 / 1600 on Bio and Math 1. So yeah, a 680 is definitely good enough!

Jigar -

International students are often rejected during ED for financial aid but domestic students are not. And unfortunately you’re correct… no one knows when these decisions are coming! I just got accepted to a couple safety schools this week though, so that’s cool. But still… I’m dying for the email from Lehigh telling us what day it’ll be!

haha lehigh2017 your evident enthusiasm is very contagious. my parents don’t like the idea of a binding financial contract, so yeah. i submitted, in my opinion, a very solid application so hopefully it’ll be enough to get me admitted RD if that’s what ends up happening

Oh okay I see. Well, for what it’s worth, you can ALWAYS back out of ED if you can prove that the financial aid isn’t enough. I think you’ll be fine either way though. As far as my enthusiasm goes, I only wish Lehigh knew

What major are you applying as?

The 5 Year Arts and Engineering Program (Physics & MechE), but I think I’m gonna end up choosing one of them – most likely physics. And I’m not sure I could prove that I can’t afford it…I can, but barely. Plus, I have 2 younger brothers. Have you gotten the impression that ED II has a big advantage over RD?

Also, since I can tell all you guys really enjoy posting on this forum and getting out your excitement, would you guys like to post your stats and stuff now, so I can start to get an idea of where I stand in the applicant pool?

this waiting is killing me haha, Do any of you know if there is a definite date for when acceptances will come out?

EDII is just as big of a benefit as EDI, however, it is also known as the ED for Ivy League rejects, so it can be very competitive. And I know what you mean about financial aid; my family doesn’t qualify for any (says the fin aid estimators) but that doesn’t mean we have $55,000 a year laying around, either!

And sure, I’ll post my stats!
