My son just received a text stating if he emails admissions and copies a parent, he’ll be offered a spot off the waitlist. Has anyone else received similar text? Sounds like they are dipping into the waitlist already…

No. The instructions in the text were to email admissions and copy a parent stating that your commit by May 1.
What college did he apply to?

sounds like yield protection. most other schools just offer you a spot not asking you to contact them again if you are still interested.

I heard that UChicago calls students to ask if they are still interested and will commit before they offer a spot off the waitlist. I don’t think it’s all that uncommon.

did anyone get off the wait list, that got the text, and DID NOT respond? Or did everyone respond and then get off the wait list?

I don’t think my daughter did. Her portal is also still the same.
