Lehigh Interview

So I signed up for the Lehigh optional interview, what should i expect in terms of questions, length, and preparation?

This post is probably better suited for the Lehigh University specific forum under Colleges & Universities.

This would go for any school you interview with:
—You should google “college interview questions” to get an idea of commonly asked questions.
–You can also search this site for many threads on this topic.
—Prepare a couple of questions about the school that can’t be answered from looking at the website.
–Have a couple of things to share about why you like the school, why you feel you are a good fit for the school etc.
–If you have a resume or even a list of activities bring it as it can be a springboard for conversation.
–Most interviews are in the 30-40 minute range – but it varies by interviewer/by school
–Dress neat and clean – business casual is usually appropriate unless told otherwise.

A good question is:
If you were looking at colleges today, why would you choose Lehigh?
How would you describe the typical Lehigh student?

Also I would look at their website and see what they value.
I see “Leaders With Purpose
From the classroom to the community, here on campus and around the world, Lehigh students, faculty and alumni are working to enact positive change.”

So when you are answering questions, keep that in mind.

So don’t say “I was in the Key Club”
but "After joining Key Club, I noticed that while we were earning money for international charities, we were not doing anything local. After discussing ideas with the club, I led a food drive for our local food pantry. They get many donations around the holidays, but not during the spring. I communicated with school administrators, planned a media campaign, collected the food and delivered it. Also I documented what needed to be done so next year the club could continue this effort. "

This shows leadership (without being an elected leader) but how you changed your community.

I applied to Lehigh University this year and I did an optional interview (accepted).

The person that interviews you will most likely be a senior student (as was mine). The interview is basically all about what makes you special. But the interviewer will ask you questions like “Why Lehigh” and “What will you bring to campus if accepted”. The most important questions are the personal ones as they ask you about YOU and only YOU.

For preparation, I would do some research on the university, its research, campus life, and area.

My interview took approximately 30-45 minutes if I remember correctly, but it goes really fast since it doesn’t seem like an official interview.

Dress nicely, bring a resume/ portfolio to share.

A huge part of the interview is when you get to ask questions.
When you ask questions it shows you are interested in the university.

Good Luck to you and hope you do well!
