I’m wondering if this a good sign but Lehigh University went out of their way to give me a courtesy call to remind me about financial aid to ensure that I was applying for it…? It wasn’t like a come to our school call but I found it strange that out of 11,000 applicants they made a live person call me to remind me? I’m just wondering if this means anything. If this is a thing for everyone. Or if I am just reading into something too much.
Yes, I think it is a good sign! It is hard for me to believe they would call 11,000 applicants. Lehigh really is a close knit, caring community.
When I went to college I went to a large state school. I didn’t even bother to go to graduation because everything was so big and impersonal. We wanted our son to have a different experience so we were happy he chose Lehigh. This is your first experience of how Lehigh takes the time to put in the extra effort to help their students.
Best of luck!!! Keep us posted!
Thank you so much! I will make sure to
I thought it was a good sign. I was quite shocked to hear the message on the answering machine. Not extremely hopeful but it was really nice.
If it also helps, I would love to hear some other input, but here are some of my stats. I’m applying for Regular Decision. My cumulative math and critical reading score is a 1510. I am a Hispanic female. My gpa is a 3.75 unweighted and weighted is a 4.6. Lack of good A’s was due to depression I wrote in my common app essay, but I have taken 7 AP’s, 5 of them last year and in my junior and first semester of senior year I received all A’s. So huge upward trend. I started my own tutoring program at my high school. I’ve been in speech and debate for 4 years with leadership positions, and student council for 3 years. I am a National Hispanic Scholar, Le Grand Concurs nationally ranked, and has state awards in speech and debate. Also I love long walks on the beach and pina coladas.
Just joking. Don’t know if the stats help but maybe it would be a better read on who I am as an applicant. Would really appreciate feedback.
Your stats are similar to my son who went to Lehigh. We felt Lehigh looked beyond our son’s grades and test scores and saw the same potential in him that we did. I think you have a very impressive application. Since Lehigh is a smaller school the admission department is committed to taking the time to read each application. The first thread on Lehigh’s CC website features a newspaper article about the admission’s process. It is worth reading.
I really think Lehigh would be lucky to have you! Best of luck!!!
OP I think your stats sound terrific, you’d be a great fit at Lehigh! Best of luck, they are very generous with their financial aid.
Hi Fcallicotte,
Lehigh is determined to achieve a more diverse student body. Some schools talk a good game but Lehigh is walkin’ the walk. Your academic credentials are impressive so I am confident they would love to have you. My daughter graduated with honors last May and my son is a freshman in the IBE program. I think it’s a terrific school. Good luck with your decision!
I also received the same type of call last week. I’m not really sure if it means anything though.
