Leopard-print dress unprofessional?

BB, your link doesn’t work for me. I was curious!

I have a blouse in some sort of animal print. I wear it to the office only under a jacket or cardigan. Alone, it just seems too loud. I don’t want my office clothes to scream for attention.

Me too. I’d wear it, and I hate animal prints and have never owned a single one.

@BunsenBurner, the cat blouse outfit sounds great. For some reason, I always imagine you working in a lab, and I can’t imagine those clothes in a lab, LOL.

I say wear it as soon as you see a male college wear an animal print shirt or jacket.

I said “wear” and I own a leopard print top that I do wear to work, although as faculty we are allowed to be eccentric.

I would not consider wearing that to work.

Personally I do not own any animal print but as an accessory I think this is a stylish look:

Sans the “studded” handbag.

Love the outfit, HarvestMoon! And agree that the bag is stupid (although it could be used as an anti-purse snatcher weapon).

Abasket, here is another link to the blouse:

Hope it works! I wanted to wait for a sale, but could not resist - the gift card was burning a hole in my wallet.

Back to leopard prints!

Haha - that’s a blouse worth a chuckle!!!

Nope.

I like the look in #46 as well, though my leather pants days are behind me

Abasket, now that you’ve clicked on BB’s cat blouse link, it will show up in your ad feed for a loooong time ;).

Love the blouse BB!

I probably would wear that dress. But with a dark sweater, tights and boots in the fall. But then, if I had somewhere to wear that outfit, I would rock the leather pants too. Ok, I would want to rock those leather pants.

Got a (self-inflicted) spam email from White House Black Market titled, “Trend Alert: Leopard.” LOL!! Their new collection features all things leopard-print! Skirt, sweater, shoes, bag, blouse, scarves… I wish I could post the pic of the white suit tastefully paired with the leopard blouse and black belt!

The classiest leopard dress I’ve ever laid eyes on was the spectacular, large-print one Demi Moore wore in the movie “The Joneses”.

In general, a stylized, larger-print leopard pattern is more elegant & artsy than a small-print leopard pattern. Large/stylized looks less like you are Tarzan’s mate.

No to leopard print at work. No 4 inch heels. No glitter. No huge hair extensions. People are hard on women. Men make assumptions if you look “sexy” and women are just plain mean to other women. (not all men and not all women) I think how you look matters so much more than many young women think. It is not fair or right. But it is what it is.

Well, I am very conservative in appearance and behavior and no one would ever confuse me for a Mafia wife or a sex bomb. But I think a little leopard print enlivens the wardrobe. It’s true that as a professor I really don’t have to care what I wear in that if my socks match and my shirt is tucked in, I’m considered a sartorial success. But I also think that excessive tameness in dress can work against someone who wants to appear managerial. Bland formula dress is a sign of subordination.

If you are talking about work in a corporate environment, a definite NO to animal prints. Your career can thank me later.

Absolutely true.

Men don’t just make assumptions. They acted on it. From experience of course.
