Lessons for Music Education Major?

I have read alot of postings which mention setting up a lesson with a professor at a prospective school. I have also read that in some schools music education or non-performance majors instruction is usually done by graduate students and not by the applied faculty member. Does anyone have any recent advice or experiences as to whether applied faculty will do a private lesson with a prospective music ed student?

That was never a problem for my D a music ed major / voice. She had several sample lessons along the way. The school she wound up at (Otterbein - Ohio) spent a significant amount of time with her during decision time and in her opinion treated her as well as a voice major would have been. Good Luck.

Our experience is it depends on school. You should ask this question specifically at college visits. One of five colleges we visited had grad students teach voice lessons for education majors. This was one of the top music schools with a large graduate population.
