<p>Dear fellow CCers,
In the wake of Thanksgiving, let’s all sit back and give thanks for all the wonderful things and opportunities bestowed on us. Starting with me, I am thankful for America, for Chicago, and for everyone who lent a hand over the years. Thank you.</p>

<p>I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to apply to places like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford. I’m thankful that I live in the U.S. (despite our economic problems, but those will be fixed in time; if we were able to make it through the Great Depression, we can get through this, too). And I’m thankful for our first black president, Barack Obama.</p>

<p>And I’m thankful Yale’s EA acceptance rate is within the 15-18% range vs. the regular 5-10% range.</p>

<p>For my dog walks, my family, my gifts. For growing up in an environment that encouraged reading and learning. For my successes, and, more importantly, my failures. For James Joyce and William Faulkner. For the 24 hours in a day. For Bright Eyes, Bob Dylan, and The Who. For the teachers who have believed in me. For the fact that, two generations after both sides of my family came here with nothing, I have the opportunity to apply to Ivy League schools. For friends. For debate and Academic Decathlon.</p>

<p>I am thankful for:
being in a financial state that I can choose where I apply to college and ultimately go; having a family that is supportive and not pushy, except for the mild push to apply to merit money schools; having a little brother who full-heartedly supports me through everything, even helping me win in mariokart; living a comfortable life and having the opportunity to live in different parts of society; being at a point in my life where my biggest concern is which college i’ll go to; for the big bowl of soup my mom’s making downstairs right now :)</p>

Me too- well actually, both of my parents came to the US with less than 20 USD. So it’s amazing what state we are in now. </p>
