Colleges:
UWisconsin - Madison
U Chicago
Princeton
Harvard
Yale
Brown
Columbia

Hey I have another chance thread on this page (I think called chance upenn, Yale, brown, NYU, Brandeis, etc…)

I think you’ve got a good chance at all schools except Yale(I think yale accepts a large amount of private school high income students). You’re certainly a competitive applicant. Good luck :)

I believe that you have a great chance at all of these schools except Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Columbia. I think if you can raise your ACT or SAT and get some leadership positions, you’ll have a good shot into those no problem.

Thanks, Please Chance back

Oh, I forgot to mention: I’m Treasurer of Student Council and an Officer of Key Club. I’m also the most senior delegate in Model United Nations. Do these count as leadership positions?

Are you President of anything? Pres of MUN or any officer positions. Treasurer and officer of Key definitely are leadership positions. Please Chance back

Unfortunately, no. I’d like to start a philosophy club be I doubt there’s much interest at my school. The only other leadership experience I have was acquired at Boys State. I was elected Minority Chairman of the Senate and worked on legislation - in the Education Committee - that became the first bill to be passed by both chambers of congress. Does that count?

As for MUN, we don’t have official positions. I am the senior delegate, though.

That is unfortunate, but that bill is very impressive. haha I am a Muner too :)

African American minority with stellar grades (really cant get any better!) despite rigorous course loads (i counted 11 APs) is a great start b/c all these top liberal Universities, like Harvard, Brown, UPenn, love diversity. Your EC are nothing special, but try to find a leadership role u can show off to admissions committees b/c they love that kind of quality in an applicant. Your SAT/ACT is low for some of your top choice schools (only 25% for Harvard 30%Yale, 30% at Princeton, and 40-50% at Brown, 40=45% at Columbia)
my rule of thumb, if and SAT is below 25% at a school, u only get in if u have athletics scholarship, legacy, or a building with your last name on campus, lol.
u should really try to have at least a 50% score to feel like a competitive applicant.
BUT since you are a minorty, u have a solid boost.

UWisconsin - Madison safety
U Chicago low reach
Princeton reach
Harvard low reach
Yale reach
Brown low reach
Columbia low reach

If i had to guess i would say u will be accepted to at least one Ivy League

chance back!!!

Also, how significant is an independent study of philosophy? I wrote freshman and sophomore year ALOT. Since junior year I’ve read tons philosophy. Just recently, I’ve written a research essay on free will structured after the IB extended essay. Is this a significant EC?

You have a really good chance for all those schools; especially because you’re part of a minority. I think you’d do great, and get into at least half of these schools. Good luck  Chance me back?
