Let's crack the code: what the Eli account # means

<p>Okay, since we obviously don’t know where the number at the end of the account came from, let’s see if we can spot a trend (racial, regional, etc.) Maybe they grouped applicants into categories based on certain criteria. I think that the number signifies who will review the apps, but I doubt it’s completely random…let’s try and find out:</p>

<p>Also, I literally received my Eli Account info about 3 days after I submitted my app… in October. The admissions committee supposedly did not meet until December. This means that I got my info long before anyone knew anything about my app.</p>

<p>I doubt it has anything to do with the name. My name is pretty common in Germany, but I doubt that all of them suddenly decided to apply to Yale. I rather think it’s completely random</p>

I’m almost certain this ID is just generated from one’s email account.
If your email account is weird like “Skatercheerleadergirlz0mg7”, they probably just sanitize it, or generate a random one.</p>

<p>What I want to know is how we can figure out what the Admissions Area is.
If everyone were comfortable enough to post theirs, and the town they were in, we could get a rough map of where the Admissions Committee selects candidates.
For instance, I live in Pennsylvania, but my highschool is in NY state…and I have a New York Admissions area as a result…However, the numbers and letter before it suggest to me that NY state isn’t an entire admissions area by itself (Because schools in upstate NY would just get destroyed by schools in NYC).</p>

<p>I mean…If it’s at all algorithmic, and not completely random (There are totally random key gens on like…torrents…I’m sure Yale has a super one), then we’re gonna go nowhere with it.</p>

<p>But I’d still like to see my idea (admissions area) map come to fruition.
I have a sneaking suspicion that certain areas favor certain schools.</p>
