Lets talk about it.

Since it is apparently OK to discuss the unacceptable aspects of a culture- as shown in the " gay men in parked cars", thread- and what motivation is behind that, Id like to bring up a topic that I think is even more serious.

Why are Black and Hispanic couples more violent?

I agree with WHO that domestic violence needs to be treated as a health issue, when violence is in the home, is it any wonder it is seen as a way to solve conflicts on the sidewalk?

The self reporting rate of whites is at 10% and at 20% for blacks and hispanics. Considering that white Americans hold a majority that means there are epidemic numbers of violent white Americans taking it to the streets. Was that your point?

I think mom4 misunderstood the article posted by emky. If the numbers provided are to be believed, of the 20% of the population that experiences IPV, a far greater % of those are non-white than in our nation’s population. One would expect that if our nation is about 75% white, then those reporting IPV would be about 75% white. Not so, according to the article. It is true whites here hold a majority, but according to the article, in the black/hispanic community this problem occurs 2 to 3 times more often than in the white community. That would show a large, disproportionate number of violence in the black/hispanic community.
I repeat, that is if the numbers provided are to be believed. I make no judgment on that.
