And because I know this will drive some of you nuts, Kim credits Kanye for helping her be more supportive.
Kris is a good business person. It is easy to accuse the Kardasians of being “classless” and the like but, if we are being honest, if someone wanted to create a reality TV show around you and your kids and pay you a significant amount of money to do it how many people would turn it down?
It seems it is okay to use one’s assets, such as good looks, and that is all the K’s are doing. They are capitalizing on their assets. I have more of a beef with the people that consume that and pay for it than the K’s themselves.
Yes, I noted that earlier , Youdon’tsay, about the Kanye connection! At the end of the day, the Kardashians struggle like any other family (only with a lot more money and celebrity on top of that than most of us). I wish Bruce and his family well.
“If we are being honest, if someone wanted to create a reality TV show around you and your kids and pay you a significant amount of money to do it how many people would turn it down?”
I would turn it down without hesitation. Honestly.
I’d turn it down, too. Then there is the whole issue of capitalizing on the sex tapes … That is how the Kardashians first came to the public attention.
No indication that Bruce Jenner approved that in any way, of course.
There is no amount of money on earth that would make me do a reality show!

what is the question?
Would we all allow a reality show of our families, when our families are just going to normal jobs, our kids are going to college, etc???
or, are you asking if we would opt to become a bunch of shallow young people, just so we could be on television?
Yes to the first (altho too boring for success)
No to the second (you couldn’t pay us all enough to become trashy for money).

I think it’s interesting that you think most of us would do so. There is no amount of money in the world, none, at which I’d participate in or allow a reality show to move into my home. Plus, it would flop, since watching me let out the dog, pay the bills and surf CC in bed on my iPad doesn’t make for thrilling tv.
Pizzagirl,
I’m not sure “most” of the fine people here would do a reality show. But it is easy to judge other people and be Holier Than Thou and sanctimonious about it. The Indians had a saying that you can’t judge another person until you walk a mile in their shoes.
Kim began getting famous be hanging around Paris Hilton. They were friends. The media who followed Paris around began asking “who is that super hot girl” so she was well on her way to fame, granted for being nothing more than hot, well before her sex tape with Ray J and yes I am a little embarrassed I even know that much. She would have ended up being famous anyway, I suspect.
My life would be rather boring too if it were on a reality show. I’m mildly proud of that. But my life is in no way similar to what it is to live in SoCal amongst the rich and famous. The temptations they deal with are tenfold what I, my loyal and devoted wife, and my two doing-their-best-kids deal with. If I were ten years younger, rolling in money, living amongst the beautiful and ambitious, I’m not so sure I wouldn’t be a little more like the Kardarshians.
Bruce advising Kim not to pose for Playboy is laudable but is posing for Playboy that wrong when you are that hot? I’m not so sure. I can understand why someone as attractive as Kim would do it. I’m also not going to hate Kris for making money selling basically nothing. I just can’t hate her for that. I can’t dislike her for that either. From a business perspective, she isn’t dumb, let me put it that way.
So, Kim posed for PB, had a sex tape and other than that … she’s an attention whore. Okay. Anything else? Kris likes to make money. Okay. What else you got? You see what I mean. Some of the hatred directed at the Kardashians is merely jealousy in disquised as morality. I direct that comment not so much at the good people here, although it may apply here as well, but to the people who hate the K’s in general for no reason other than they are rich, beautiful and successful.
I will admit to watching the Kardashian show. I find it interesting to see the family dynamics and the lifestyle. It’s not all bliss. Rob Kardashian in particular is struggling away from the cameras with various issues - which are exacerbated by the lack of privacy. Kendall and Kylie have incredible careers and money for teenagers. Where else would a 17-year-old buy a $2.7 million dollar house in Calabasas? But they have no privacy and I wonder how this lack of a more traditional childhood will impact them later in life. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes it is ridiculous. Sometimes I wish they would simply go away. But I am kind of intrigued.
Well, now that I think about it, I can see why some parents might hate the K’s. You mentioned Kendall and Kylie, rockvillemom.
No one should be that beautiful, rich and … I don’t know what. There doesn’t need to be anything after that. They set impossible standards for anyone else to live up to. If I was a 17 year old girl, I’m not obviously, I am pretty sure I’d hate to be compared to them. I’d hate all the attention they get for … once again … just being so genetically lucky. You can’t blame them for that. I forgot the name of Bruce’s second wife, the one he had Kendal and Kylie with, but they are blessed with some seriously amazing genes.
Kendall, I think, it might be Kylie, who knows, just got named as the Revlon spokesperson. Or some other big company. She is 17. She’s also a radically successful model. Come on, that is just unfair. The other one has done some plastic surgery I think and is getting talked about on ET a lot because she’s now blossoming too. So I can see why the younger set follows them. They are the gold standard like it or not.

I can assure you there is not a single material good the Kardashians have that I’m jealous of. I don’t hate them. I try not to hate anybody. I don’t think they’re immoral. I think they’re trashy, but that’s not immoral.
I prefer celebrities who have earned their celebrity through being actually talented at something - singing, dancing, acting, or in BJ’s case, athletics.
You don’t seem to understand - their lifestyle is NOTHING I would dream about, or idolize, or be jealous of.

Well, that’s the freaking point. It’s not like Paris Hilton is a talented singer, dancer, actor, etc. I would be embarrassed if I were the Hilton family.
There was an article in the NYTImes about Stella McCartney the designer and some of the comments were rather snippy about - well, she comes from a famous family, blah blah blah. Well, I see a huge difference between having that family money and just entertaining yourself to death, and having that family money and working hard for a living. I admire Stella McCartney and Ivanka Trump far more than Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian.

Oh come on. I don’t think the Kardashians are all that in looks. They’re reasonably attractive, that’s all.
I agree with Pizzagirl: They are reasonably attractive. They also know how to put themselves together (or have people do it for them) so that the hair, the face, the make-up, the clothes are absolutely perfect. Now that I envy!!
I read a sarcastic fashion blog where the Khardashian/Jenner women are often skewered. Kylie Jenner is SEVENTEEN and dates a 25 year old rapper. She seems to spend most of her time taking provocative pictures of herself and posting them on instagram. Kendall Jenner is 19 and is a legitimate runway model. The older Kardashian girls have had some semblance of a normal upbringing. The Jenner girls have grown up in the spotlight. And that usually does not end well.
Kendall and Kylie are the children of Bruce Jenner with 3rd wife Kris Jenner. The flip side of the appearance issue is that if they run out of the house looking less than great - paparazzi photos on every website/magazine. Remember when Kim was pregnant? Hideously unflattering pictures of her posted daily.
Whatever they accomplish - there will always be questions as to whether they earned it or it fell into their laps because of their last name and family connections. Kendall is 19 and she is the one with the very hot modeling career and endorsement deals. I have read interviews where she complains that she works very hard and wants to disassociate herself from the Kardashian name as she gets a lot of negativity about how her family connections got her where she is today. Yet, as a follower of the show, I can say there were episides that show exactly that - family connections with important designers resulting in her first runway appearances.
And now I have outed myself as someone who knows way too much about this family, lol.
I can’t believe Kylie is dating him. Yes he is 25, and he had a baby last year with a girl who was BFF to the kardashians. The whole thing is crazy!
I will say this for the Kardashians as I know them on the show: they may seem shallow and vacuous, but at least they are not putting out one episode after another of extremely crass and bad behavior. Rudeness, arguments, even physical fights, drunkenness, narcissism, profanity, extreme selfishness, and lewd behavior are all too common on most reality tv shows. The Kardashians are, for the most part, supportive and respectful of each other and do stand up for each other in the public arena, for all their mild bickering. They are essentially harmless.
My D2 is very attractive; many would say “hot.” That doesn’t mean she should pose nude for Playboy. I don’t view it as “wrong” from a moral perspective, but there are many valid reasons why it would not be in her best interest, and her father and I would not hesitate to advise her of those reasons if she did indeed ask our opinion, as Kim K did in that episode. Kim was actually not really enthusiastic about the idea, but Kris harped on her about what a great career move it would be. I’ve read that Kris was also behind the idea that it would be good for Kim’s career to release the sex tape, though I certainly don’t know that for a fact.
