I buy my towels from Costco. I am now wondering if I’m missing something and should try some of the recommended brands. CC usually seems to end up costing me money. ?
Me too, @mom60. I’ve also bought towels at JCP in the past which I really liked. They may have been the Kassatex towels mentioned previously. They were a waffle weave and dried quickly (great for college students). I’m getting away from really thick towels as they take longer to dry.
I like the thick, somewhat rough towels that I can often find in hotels. They absorb water, and the roughness stimulates the skin. I went to Macy’s a couple of years ago, determined to finally treat myself to some great towels, and was talked into getting some “Hotel Collection” Turkish towels. They weren’t cheap. Wife and I hate them. Thick, but creepily smooth, to the point of being almost slick, and they don’t absorb any water.
At this point we are back to using our run of the mill towels, and have given up on finding the the true “hotel quality” towels.
H likes towels that dry hanging on the towel rack quickly because he says they stink otherwise. Do these towels recommended in this thread dry quickly and thoroughly while just hanging, as well as being very absorbent? Those are his criteria and the reason he doesn’t like the newer thicker towels.
Ikea has great towels. No kidding, I like them better than any towel I’ve used.
I got a set of Laura Ashley towels as a wedding present. They have been in rotation for 33 years and still look good.
I really like these towels from Lands End. They are thick, absorbent, come in lots of colors and won’t break the bank. @57special, these might be more along the lines of the type of towel you’re looking for.
