D1 asked for towels for Christmas this year. They registered for some for their wedding, but didn’t get them, and now those are out of stock. I’d like to work with her to pick some while she is here at Xmas and have them shipped to her place once we pick them. But I’ve had a hard time picking towels in the past, and I’m wary of internet purchasing without being able to touch them – but I think that is what we will be doing. Lots of towels look fluffy, but don’t actually absorb any water!
Does anyone have a recommendation of a brand of bath towels they really like?
I recently visited my mom, and noticed that her bath towels were very nice - Westcott by Ralph Lauren. One of my d’s had the same brand in her wedding registry, and says they’re holding up well.
Pricey, but I love Kassetex. The towels are not too fluffy, absorb well, and are durable. I like the ones with a waffle type texture on one side. They feel just right luxurious fo me.
I’ve had really great luck with Mascioni towels–I use them at our vacation place where they take a real beating. I only buy white towels because it’s easy to wash them and not have to sort colors. Also, if some towels are really soiled, I’ll add Oxyclean to the laundry soap. They are bit pricey but they last–the current towels I’m using are 10 years old and they look new.
She wants them to keep forever or just the next few years? I got some great fluffy ones from Land’s End after my kids had them for college and I loved the thickness. But Ican’t tell you which line.
The best towels I’ve ever had are Yves Delorme. After buying some for our place in Hilton Head, I have steadily replaced every towel we have and have given them as gifts to all my Ds.
@Bromfield2 sort color towels? We have burgundy and navy towels. They go right in with the rest of the clothes. I’ve even tossed them in with white clothes (after the first washing or two).
Never been a problem.
Back to Company Store. My kids got two sets of these for HS graduation gifts…one set each in their college colors. They both still have those towels. One graduated in 2006 and the other in 2010. The Company Store towels look brand new…and I know they took a beating when the kids were on college.
If these are going to be forever towels, a complete indulgence are towels from Anichini. The towels are not made from the loop weave cotton that we have here, they are flat or waffle weave linens (as opposed to cotton) The towels last forever and are extremely absorbent. Another similar but less expensive option that I like are the Peshtemal from Turkey. Again, extremely absorbent, lightweight and look great for other uses besides towels i.e. beach towels, sarongs, throws etc. but are a fraction of the price of Anichini and are made from long fiber cotton not linen
Last forever…great suggestion above. We have Egyptian cotton bath towels that are now over 20 years old. I’m sick of the colors and want to change (I don’t want to buy white towels). But these things just won’t wear out. They look brand new.
I’d go for something nice…but ask your daughter @intparent whether she wants something colorful…or white that will last forever.
Another Lands End fan. Great towels. I buy the towel set and love the monogram option.
Hubby and teens even voice liking these thick towels that last and dry well. Often have a sale (like now) and that’s when I buy another set.
