^^Who knows, you might end up liking it? Go for a crazy one! I find the blues are pretty flattering on almost everyone.
I think fingernails are best left to the nail pros. That way, if the polish does not look perfect, you can tell them to redo it. Toenails… They are too far down for the imperfections to be noticeable.
I did not paint my nails until I was 58 or 59; I’m now 63. The skin on my legs and feet is warmer toned than my hands so I like to paint my toenails gold and my fingernails light or dark silver or sometimes blue. I have an embarrassing array of colors, but tend to find the reds and pinks either too femme fatale or just too femme for me. I choose colors to coordinate or match the colors I wear.
I do my nails at night and shower in the morning, removing the softened stray polish with a scrubbie on my skin. I also extend having to redo my fingernails by adding a little polish to the grown out base and tips and then topping the entire nail with a matte coat for a different look. I use a base coat, two color coats, and then a top coat, so an entire re-do takes more time than I’m willing to commit every six or seven days when I show substantial grow-out. The added matte coat gives me another four days or so before the chips begin.
