My little brother is applying for BS for next year and received a letter from The Hill School today commending him on his SSAT scores. Did anyone else receive a letter like this from any other schools?

My son received those last year from a few schools.

do you remember which ones?

If that letter makes you take a look at the Hill School and, from there, you discover that it might be a terrific fit for your brother: terrific!

If that letter makes you think that anything else is going on, such as he has an inroad to acceptance or that they want anything more than to have you pay them so they can see if he’s someone they’d admit: take a big step back.

Do all schools have access to this info w/out our knowledge?

When you signed up for the SSAT, there was an option to allow SSAT to share information with schools. I don’t remember the exact phrasing. I suppose that some schools may use this information to identify potential applicants. Every possible applicant does not find her way to CC. I presume that the schools who use the data to contact students don’t send letters to every student in the US.

So, in short, they don’t have access to this info without your consent, but you may have forgotten that you consented. I don’t think you can consent to this after registering for the test.

My son only received this type of correspondance from schools to which he had his scores sent and had already interviewed. It wasn’t just some random schools!

@netoburrito,
Which schools sent him a letter?
