Letter of rec from non-academic teacher?

<p>I am asking my private music tutor to write me the second teacher’s letter of rec. What format does it have to be? </p>

<p>Here’s an excerpt from the undergrad admission blog:

It’s much better to send two, three, or four letters of recommendation from folks who will write solid letters. You could get one letter from a counselor, one from a teacher, and one from either a coach, mentor, or boss, for example.

<p>The form from common app explicitly stated it’s for academic teacher only. I don’t know if I should use that one.</p>

<p>Any got an idea?</p>

<p>uhm. i think most schools require 2 academic letter of recommendations (i’m not really sure on that) and the rest are optional. I’m pretty sure the optional ones doesn’t have to follow the common app form but rather could be a letter (literally) instead.</p>
