My question on letter of recs is, what if a teacher really does think that a student is bright and good in participating in class and all that, but they just aren’t good enough with words to articulate that? Would a college admissions officer be able to see that it’s just a problem of words?

Unfortunately, college admissions officers probably won’t be able to figure out that it’s the teacher’s fault. If you’re concerned about this, I would suggest telling the teacher specifically what you want them to emphasize about you, and pick older teachers who have been working at the school for a while and have written tons of recs before.

Anyone with a reasonable grasp of English should be able to convey their enthusiasm in a recommendation letter, even if the writing isn’t all that great. I think it’s important to make sure your teachers know your recommendation letter isn’t just a formality, though. At some colleges it is.
