Letter of Recommendation Concerns

Hi,
My physics teacher won’t be teaching in my district this year, so he has to send my letters of recommendation through the mail. He has showed me a PDF of his letter by email and it had a few errors. I sent him an email and he corrected them 8 days later. This 2nd version of the letter also had many errors that I did not realize the first time. I can’t rely on him to turn in the letter of rec by the deadline. I contacted my guidance counselor and she suggested I contact him directly and/or find another teacher. I emailed him corrections, but I could always call his cellphone if he takes a long time to reply.

Which solution is better?
-Ask a teacher I know to write a letter of recommendation on the first day of school that will be due in 3 weeks.
-Try to make an excellent impression on my 12th grade English teacher in 3 weeks, so she can fill out an online evaluation form.

If I never get my physics teacher’s letter then both of the above solutions are equal to me.
Thank you in advance.

Is there a teacher you could contact now? Not sure when you start school, but maybe getting the word to that teacher in the next few days would be a good idea…

School starts exactly 1 week from now. The teacher may be swamped with letter of recommendation requests.
