<p>I’m a freshman at Lehigh looking to transfer to Wash U for the 2010 fall semester. I’ve already got two letters coming from two of my professors, but my Latin teacher who I had for 5 years in high school wrote an awesome letter of recommendation that I’d like to send in. I think that she knows me better than any mentor I’ve ever had and that she could really help tell the school about my personality, work ethic, etc. I know when transferring it’s not required or even recommended, but would it hurt my chances to send this letter in anyway? Thanks.</p>
<p>Unless WUSTL specifically says not to, it’s not likely to hurt. If WUSTL decides they don’t want to look at a HS LOR, then they’ll just ignore it. Just make sure you’re not sending in several supplements to your application, then they might get irritated ;).</p>
<p>Entomom: How stressful are the academics at WUSTL once you get in?</p>
<p>WUSTL is a top school academically, so it will definitely be demanding. But I also hear from people that it doesn’t have the competitive nature of some schools. We have one close friend that went there and loved it. She did however intend to be premed and dropped that idea after the first year. That might have been due to premed competition, which I don’t think you can escape anywhere, or due to lack of preparation in HS for classes like organic chem.</p>

<p>I’ve heard that if you are a current CC student, a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher is not recommended. You want to show the colleges that you have moved forward a lot since high school.</p>
