<p>My AP Chinese teacher (I’m a junior) really likes me, but I’m half Chinese. Do you think colleges will look at this as an unhelpful recommendation, even if the teacher talks about my personal qualities, etc?</p>

<p>Also, when should I start asking teachers for recommendation letters? At the end of junior year?</p>

<p>Not at all; as long as the recommendation is fairly strong, you should be in good hands. The end of junior year would be a good time; it’ll give teachers more than enough time to write a strong one.</p>
