First, I am planning on pursuing a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology in California. My unrelated major GPA is only about a 3.2ish, my GRE scores had pretty high verbal/writing scores, and I only have one relevant experience: I interned in the speech therapy department at an academic health center from September to just last week. I went in four hours, once a week, and shadowed the therapists. Since I’m interested in working in pediatric speech pathology, I mostly followed one particular therapist who specializes in pediatrics. Still, I only saw her once a week, so I’m not sure if she’d be able to write a strong letter for me, and I’d rather get a letter from the department supervisor, who has a Ph.D in Speech-Language Pathology. However, the problem is that I only spoke to the supervisor a handful of times, as she wasn’t there often. I know I made a good impression on her, but I doubt it’s enough. I’m in a really big rut right now, because I absolutely DO NOT have a third letter of rec. Upon starting the internship, I sadly assumed that I would get a solid recommendation from someone in the department :/

So, after that explanation, here are my questions:

Would it be weird to ask either of the two ladies for letters since they didn’t get to know me well?

If you think it’s okay, how would I approach them? I’m on winter break far from the hospital. Should I use email?

What would I send them? Cover letters? Resumes? M statement of intent?

I appreciate any help! I’m in a pretty bad spot right now.
