letter of recommendation

Does Northwestern accept other letters of recommendation from people besides teachers? And if so, instead of having them fill out actual evaluation forms provided by the application, can I just ask them to write their own letter and seal it in an envelope and give it to my counselor to put in my file? Thanks.

“Does Northwestern accept other letters of recommendation from people besides teachers?”

someone else just asked this, you’d have to call the admissions office for the definitive answer, but when i applied as a transfer, one of my recs (of the required two) was from a teacher and one was from my counselor.

Someone else asked about a letter of rec from a TA, which i think might be different than a counselor, since they are not really adults and still students.

I think though, they would like at least two recs to be from academic faculty, IE: counselor/teacher but i’m not sure on this, try calling.

and it’s totally fine to have them fill out their own letter of rec and sign and seal it themselves, they don’t have to use the form provided
