Is a strong letter of recommendation from a 10th grade teacher (AP Calculus) still better than a more generic recommendation from an 11th/12th grade teacher?
Also, if i participate in a club with the calculus teacher and still remain in contact with her, would this be ok?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Yes, strong letters of recommendation are much better than generic ones.
@JustOneDad That really wasn’t my question… I was more concerned regarding the grade in which I took the courses since it seems that top-tier colleges prefer recs from 11th/12th grade teachers. However, this is for an AP class and a teacher who I keep some contact with… I just wanted to know of the thoughts on this.
I see no problem with it. Colleges want to make sure you don’t have all recs from an “easier” or more ancient time in your academic career and the AP would take care of that.
