Can teachers turn in their letters after you have already submitted your application? Or do you have to wait for them to turn it in before you can submit?

Also, can they submit their letters after the deadline for applying to each school? Or does it have to be done before?

Thanks!

You can submit your application before or after the teachers turn in their letters - if you look at the bottom of the online application the “school forms” section is separate from the actual application. They do have to be in by the deadline though.

I thought there was a grace period of a few weeks after the deadline for school forms, since they are not under the control of the applicant.

Can anyone confirm this?

I think each school has their own rules about whether or not they will accept letters of recommendation that arrive (or are postmarked) after the deadline. Most schools will probably give the student a little leeway, but there is an expectation that students make teachers aware of deadlines, give them plenty of time, and check that they have been sent in time.
