Hi, I just started my application for UF and was thinking about my letters of recommendation.
From the tour, I know it was recommended that if you include them (I’m pretty sure they said they were optional) they should be from one academic and one nonacademic source.
This question may be ridiculous but does their use of term “academic” apply to only the core classes or any school teacher/class in general?
The reason I ask is that I plan on including one from my news-magazine adviser (journalism teacher) and wasn’t sure if that was considered academic since I consider it nonacademic (until someone brought it up to me that it might count as academic).

Before I thought of that, I planned on submitting one from my news-magazine adviser and biology teacher/science dean. But now when I think about it, it seems they might have meant someone outside of school when they say nonacademic.
Sorry this is a little lengthy, but ANY help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank You ![]()
