<p>Actually, Dartmouth requires a peer recommendation. So…yeah</p>
<p>And some of the individuals on your list (ie politicians and alumni of the school in question) are not actually going to help you unless they know you and/or specifically promise the school money upon your admission.</p>
<p>My friend had a superintendent of the NYC public school system write him a letter for Columbia. Still got the thin envelope (and he did get into UChicago and Pomona sans the extra letter).</p>
