What exactly goes into a letter of recommendation? One of my teachers is currently writing mine, and he mentioned that I’m a normal, healthy, 17 year old boy. <- Regarding that, I’ve no idea how that will help. So, what usually goes into a letter in your neck of the woods?

Most my teachers don’t let me see the college rec letter… its just for the teachers to talk about you, and nothing you can change or should influence besides with your normal relationship with the teacher

Haha, sorry. That’s kinda hilarious : )

But it’s hard to say what exactly should be in a rec letter…I never read the ones my teachers wrote for me, but from what they mentioned, they talked about:

My contributions to class
My extra-curricular activities
My being a nice and intelligent person who doesn’t kick puppies

Lol : )

Of course, each rec letter will be different. Just pick a teacher you like who knows and likes you and trust them!

Usually they say something about how you’re a hard-working, upbeat person who genuinely benefits the classroom.

If your teacher cannot follow the instructions (there are paper forms for download on the CommonApp website, so you can take a look at what is entailed in the letter) then I do not think it a good idea for him to write a letter about you, haha.
