I am a second semester senior that hates math and is planning on leveling down to calc AB in order to free up some time to actually learn things in other classes that I care about…shocker in this day and age of grade obsessed HS students LOL…anyways I am wondering about how much damage this will do to my apps. to top schools. I am applying to some lower ivies and other top privates (i.e Northwestern)

Here would b my schedule with the drop

AP Gov/Econ
AP Physics C (I like physics LOL)
AP Calc AB
AP English
AP Envi Sci
Model UN

The way I understand it, the first half of Calculus BC is Calculus AB. So you have already had Calculus AB. You might as well drop math entirely. unless you did really bad in the first half of BC

Depending on how good your teacher is, you will likely finish up the material and start reviewing by end of March or early April, which means you only have like 6 more weeks of hard stuff. Just stick it out.

It won’t hurt you unless you intend to major in math or science in college. If you pop an 800 on the SAT M, but you dropped out of AP Calc BC, some AdComms might think you are lazy. You will be fine if you address it in a compelling way (with specifics about what you learned and loved in your other classes) in your essay.
