Liberal arts colleges in CA that don't look at 9th grade GPA

I really want to go to a liberal arts college that’s in CA. My UC GPA is decent, but my 9th grade I had a horrible year, and I got almost all C’s. My GPA without 9th grade included is 3.9 unweighted/4.12 weighted, but with 9th grade it’s like 3.5 unweighted / 3.65 weighted, which is really low. I feel like that would hurt my chances massively, even if decisions aren’t completely based on GPA.

So, does anyone know of any good liberal arts colleges that I could look at that are within CA and that don’t calculate 9th grade into your GPA?

Your GPA is pretty good overall: I would think a lot of colleges would see the progression of your grades and accept you. Don’t limit yourself based on your freshman grades. Your SAT scores and ECs will also help.

Some CSUs, like Sonoma and Monterey Bay, sometimes appear in listings of liberal arts colleges. Channel Islands, Stanislaus, Humboldt, Bakersfield, and San Marcos are also relatively small (3,000 to 8,000). Among the UCs, Merced has under 3,000 students.

The CSUs and UCs do not include high school freshman grades in GPA calculations, although courses taken then must be passed with C or higher grades to count against course requirements.
