Hey, I was bored so I decided to start a thread for left leaning CC members…

why is no one posting? It has been 4 1/2 hrs.

I am a liberal. boooo conservatives!

You have any ideas who might the democrat presidential candidate for the next election? I think perhaps Hillary, hopefully not Kerry

Kerry is gonna run for sure, but i doubt he’ll win the primaries.

i liked howard dean, why did he have to spazz out at that promotional speech.lol

w00t!! liberal pride!
yeah greendayfan, i was also disappointed by the fact that so many people turned on howard dean. i mean ok, he showed some emotion, but how does that make him a bad candidate?? it’s pretty sad to think that one little screech can take you from being a frontrunner to virtually nothing. plus, i think we liberals need someone strong and outgoing-- we have this reputation of being “wimpy” and keep getting squashed. kerry was nice, but sort of a weed
but what REALLY ****es me off is when some of my republican friends yell at me for saying i dislike bush, and are like “you’re so unpatriotic. if you don’t like the administration, go to france.”
wow that sounded a bit rude. im certainly not trying to offend anyone with that post, i just had to let out a little angst. GAH.

drops into liberal topic
There’s something about conservative politics which just makes me very uncomfortable. I really don’t like to see government put the interests of big business over the interests of its citizens. Also I’m strongly pro-choice in a country where abortion is banned…

Who here likes Bush?

I’m not a true liberal. I consider myself a left-leaning moderate. I want Howard Dean too!

i didn’t affiliate myself with any political party until bush became president, and i’ll probably go back to independent once he leaves office there are plenty of republican senators, etc. who would make great presidents, but i do want howard dean!

I like Bush! Question – why allow abortion? Its murder, and there is an alternative known as adoption, people…

What? you care about abortion when the REAL issues are Iraq and terrorism, and also domestic policies!

well…kerry was probably friends with Bin Laden, so Bush is okay in my book!

plus before the election, didnt bin laden or al qaeda or someone threaten to attack us again if bush were reelected? he must be doing something right

“well…kerry was probably friends with Bin Laden, so Bush is okay in my book!”

sigh conservatives… always fail to get facts straight!

was a joke…(although i wouldnt be surprised if it were true…)

ok tjlax, I respect your opinion on abortion. However, what if a woman is raped, why should she be forced to have the child. I think what a woman does with her body should be up to her, not Politicians. There are so many extenuatuing circumstances that it’s ridiculous to completely outlaw abortion! And I agree with Primitive. I find it strange that conservatives are so preoccupied with issues like gay marriage and abortion when there are more important issues, like national security and the environment IMO.

tglax-
i personally feel that abortion is a tricky issue. only in really terrible/awful/desperate situations would i ever consider having one. however, i have remained prochoice for these reasons:
- i don’t know if it’s really murder. most abortions are performed before the baby has a distinct heartbeat/breathing (correct me if i’m wrong). while the baby has the potential to become a human being, i dont think it technically is one yet.
- to follow this, i just don’t think the government has the right to determine whether/not a fetus is living, and then to tell a woman what to do. it allows them to cross so many ethical boundaries… plus, why don’t they go focus on terrorism, poverty, etc.??? abortion is not that big of a deal in the whole scope of things.
- if the mother could suffer as a result of the birth, i don’t think it’s really fair to take the life of an unborn fetus over her’s.
- it would be horrible not to let the victims of rape/incest get abortions. (however, i don’t know if you’re for/against this, so yeah…)

however, i do think it’s disgusting when people use abortions as a method of birth control. i know of a girl who’s been pregnant 5 times (she’s 15!!), but each time, she just has an abortion. i find that truly horrible.

i wouldn’t really mind if abortions were limited somewhat, but i definately don’t think they should be completely banned. each case is so different that we can’t set a standard for everyone.

i’d love to hear your ideas. political debates are fun! :D

how would you have acted differently on terrorism - also, rape victims represent 1% of all abortion applicants (im talking bigger picture here)

And why is everyone still arguing over the Iraq war? It was started…why stop it now? Liberals are all about retreating – Clinton comes into office, what does he do? pulls troops out of Somalia – as soon as he does this Bin Laden proclaims victory and is looked on as “the man who made the Great Satan run” – if you think about it Clinton got the steam rolling, he gave bin laden the support to launch a full scale attack (WTC 9/11)

ok:
- Bin Laden attacks us
- We go fight Saddam Hussein
Note here that Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein HATE each other.

I’m sorry, but I just don’t see the logic…
