I am headed over to LoL tomorrow. I never manage to get over there while I am here, so I arrived a day early so I could do it. Anything else around there worth stopping to see/eat/buy?
Regent Street is pretty much the Rodeo Drive/Fifth Avenue of London shopping. Off the top of my head, Hamley’s is a fabulous toy store located near Liberty and I did have afternoon tea with a friend at the tearoom in Liberty. I’m sure your hotel concierge can tell you what other points of interest are nearby.
Have fun!
If you were a fan of Mr. Selfridges, go to Selfridges. Or head over to Harrods – it truly is a remarkable store. The food court is amazing. If you are into antique silver, The London Silver Vaults are wonderful. St. Christopher’s Place off of Oxford Street has neat shops and dining. The Burlington Arcade has high end shops. Bond Street has lots of high end designer clothes.
My favorite place for tea is the Dukes Hotel. It’s bar has fabulous martinis.
Buy underwear at Marks and Spencer!
Get tea and tasty items at Fortnam and Mason. We just got back from our trip and I loved wandering around that store. If you really want to splurge get a hamper to fill and have sent home. I think Harrods is really touristy now.
I always come back with more food than anything else!! Have changed plan to Monday evening.
I used to love Liberty’s in the 60s. The epitome of Englishness. Carnaby Street was close by, also, with I Was Lord Kitchener’s Valet and so on.
I haven’t been there in so long that my information would no doubt be horribly out of date. @silverlady has good advice.
Boy, I am envious! Am I crazy, or did there used to be some small LoL outlets in the US? And, I could swear I stumbled into one in Singapore last year - not to be found this year. Maybe other retailers selling some of the fashions? I’ve tried googling, no answers. Maybe someone out there knows!
I remember one trip when the kids were small - cranky, cranky, cranky upon arrival - UNTIL we announced a visit to Hamleys! Everyone had a great time!
John Lewis in Oxford St, nearby. Great for fabrics and they do an online service to the USA.
If I went to London I wouldn’t be able to resist going to one of the London Costcos just to see how different it is and to check out the tea aisle.
