Liberty U LOWERS tuition

[Liberty University lowers tuition rates | Lynchburg News Advance](http://www.newsadvance.com/lna/news/local/article/liberty_university_lowers_tuition_rates/12883/)

The numbers are indeed impressive. Take a closer look at Liberty University’s lower tuition:

2008-2009 tuition: $ 15,450
2009-2010 tuition: $ 15,992

Now technically, it could be argued that $15,992 is not lower than $15,450. In fact, a skeptic might suggest that Liberty’s tuition will actually increase next year, by 3.5%.

But Liberty had initially planned to raise tuition by 7% next year, to $ 16,532. Then they changed their minds, and decided it would only go up by 3.5% instead.

The “lower tuition” claim may be questionable from the standpoint of mathematics. But it’s undoubtedly impressive from the standpoint of marketing.
