Liberty U to feature Bernie Sanders @ convocation!

Liberty has 34 speakers for fall convocation. Usually for commencement there is only one or two.

I’d be shocked if there were any heckling by LU students. And Hunt, if you have not seen LU lately you have not seen LU. Tremendous physical growth with much better quality. Early buildings were shoe-stringed. New Music Hall has SOA 1600 seat PAC. This will be major community asset–badly needed.

Oh for crying out loud, read between the lines… the two events still involve guest speakers who are invited to speak to the students.

The point is that it’s unusual for a conservative Christian school to invite a socialist to speak at an event, and to require undergrads to attend. This type of thing doesn’t happen very often the other way around.

Probably 3/4 of those at graduation are not students but parents, friends and relatives.

My D is going to a college near LU, and I’m glad (albeit surprised) to hear Sanders will be at the convocation. In fact, I he’ll be there just a few days before our parent’s weekend.

At most colleges, students aren’t required to attend speeches, including commencement (and even classes, for that matter).

Barrons, I’ve seen the LU campus, and it’s impressive. I’m pleased that it’s loosened up in certain ways, but I still have a number of problems with it as an institution of higher learning. I’m sure it’s valuable for many students.
