Library Books & Tutoring

Does the Library have textbooks that are required for normal classes at Stony or do students carry their books to the library to do hw and study? Is tutoring available, if so, where and when? Would you say the tutors are helpful or no?

some teachers will put the textbook on reserve at the library so you can use that. otherwise just bring your own. there are “tutors”… there are learning centers for each sunject i believe… you can go there and the TAs will be able to help you. youll find out about where and when, when you get to class… and some are more helpful than others.

Speaking of tutors, how can I become one?? In say, Gen Chem or Intro Bio? I dont have a FWS award so Im sure that limits me somehwat.

The PASS program through the Undergraduate Student Government hires people to tutor in chem and bio, but you might be limited since you’re a transfer and they require an A in the SB class you’d be tutoring for–I have no idea what they’d do with a new transfer who applied. If you want to give it a shot, though, you can either just look around for flyers once the semester starts, or go to the USG office on the 2nd floor of the SAC and ask if they can give you some information.
