Life after college (share your experiences)

Since most of you are parents and seems like a lot of you have already been through college, I decided to post this thread on this section.

I never really had a good social life, my childhood was not that great (too much moving around) and I have never really felt that inner joy of having a close circle of friends. Most of my friends I had in high school are far off from me, while I am at a tier 1 school a lot of them either avoided college or went to schools far off, we don’t keep in touch. Recently I heard two of my friends are in jail, some are in rehab, and some flunked out of college (I didn’t go to a good high school by any stretch of the imagination).

I transferred schools as well (just started at my new university during the spring semester) and I have to say it is been a bumpy ride (lonely dinners at dining halls, periods of depression due to social life, having to resort to going out to movies alone at times, etc.).

Thankfully my academics have been great (4.0 GPA).

Now I have a year left of college and I have to say, in some ways I am pretty scared from what I have heard about how it is tough to meet people, make friends, do things, and how harsh life is after college.

SO I am wondering if some of you in here can share your stories and give me some pointers. Not about life in college but life after it.
