Still at work…but REALLY thinking about the weekend!
After many weekends on the road for summer, I look forward to a weekend at home with stuff to do, but little traveling!
For me, things to enjoy:
Staying up a little later!
Farmer’s Market Saturday morning
Exercise!
Projects and Home To-Do’s:
Prime and Paint the Front door a new color!
Closet re-organize
Clean up in the vegetable garden and plant some fall greens
So just curious, and kind of a distraction from the news and weather (prayers and best thoughts for all in harms way…) what’s on your agenda for the weekend?
I’m still at work too but the weather is supposed to remain sunny and nice right through next mid-week. Plan is to have dinner tonight with my ex-SIL who I haven’t seen in months at a restaurant that is nearly impossible to get a table at in season. Tomorrow evening after work I’m going on a impromptu “reunion” Blues Harbor Cruise with a dozen of my high school buddies and then another few dozen others who graduated around the same year. Monday is “D” day – the day to begin losing the 30# I managed to gain since May, OUCH! So Sunday is breakfast out with friends (lobster and spinach eggs benedict, can you say yum?) followed by happy hour cocktails and Chinese food. Pretty full weekend.
H and I plan to take the paddle boards out this month and next month now that most tourists are gone and the weather is warm. We will also be cleaning out the garage this fall which will definitely take awhile.
I am going deep under every sink in this house to get rid of all those extra bottle of cleaning solutions and what nots that I don’t use, but have been hanging onto for years because I spent so much money on them. Hopefully that task will morph into me finally organizing my bathroom vanity drawers…
We are finally getting some rain! I will let my poor dehydrated garden absorb it. Maybe some yardwork on Sunday. Likely I will be just cleaning the house and the usual stuff… oh wait. There is that 4 hour online test I need to take. That’s what in the plans for this Sunday!!!
Driving my mom in a few to her friend’s about an hour south of me, where she will stay for a few days before going on to my sisters. On my agenda is cleaning whole house, plus laundry. H is going to SU football game so I’ll have the whole house to myself. Sunday well probably do something fun outside - like a bike ride on rail trail.
I like how the people in touristy areas are doing tourists stuff now that summer is over. We usually plan the same things and had planned to go to bil’s cottage this weekend but went last instead (and it was a total zoo and couldn’t get reservations).
But September filled up quickly this year so it’s an unusual year. Staying home and trying to clear up some things because I have been told that my new carpet should be here next week. Of course we are going out of town next weekend and have plans the next but need to get some things done.
Going to the Chillouly sculpture exhibit tomorrow night at the NY Botanical Gardens. Since we were next door at the zoo last weekend for our son’s wedding, it’s a return trip to the Bronx for us!
My weekend starts on Friday. Went to lunch at a local cafe with outdoor seating. It was super busy and we ended up sitting indoors. We had considered going to lunch at our local marina but decided it might be hot and the place we like the fish tacos from only has outside tables. September and October are our best months of the year. The sun is usually out and the tourists are still here but there are less of them.
Tomorrow I’m driving 2 hours south to have brunch with a group of friends from high school. Two of them I haven’t seen in 40 years. In the afternoon I’m going to see a good friend who moved to Los Angeles several years ago. Usually we meet up in the middle but since she is on my way home I will stop and see her house and visit for a few hours. My H will spend the day playing beach volleyball in the am and beach going in the afternoon with my D.
On the glamorous side I’m running “OhYuk” through my spa jetted bath tub. @BunsenBurner I was surprised at the green gunk that came out of the jets. The tub is 20 years old and I do run bleach and another cleaner through a few times of the year but I’ve never seen green gunk like this. Thanks for the recommendation.
Glad to hear it works! That gunk is called “biofilm” - it is a skin-like layer of bacteria firmly stuck to the walls of tubing. Bleach alone will not kill it, but a combo of proprietary agents will detach it and take care of it.
Ok, I ran Oh Yuk through the tub last weekend and didn’t get much of anything. The tub is 19 years old and probably hasn’t been used at all in the last 8 years. Do you think the Yuk part is so deeply embedded that it will take many attempts? I was very surprised at such an uneventful cleaning. I’m still happy to have made the effort and appreciate learning about the product.
I’m leaving shortly to run with the local club. then am meeting a friend for lunch. We’ll be heading to dinner with friends later and then on to euchre group. Tomorrow will be quieter. Hopefully a long walk and a yoga class.
@abasket You described our first few weekends after our youngest went off for freshman year last fall.
Somewhat same this fall, still some home repair, biking, and hopefully more sleep.
Was tough having 2 college kids home for summer where their schedules varied significantly from their HS schedule (and ours). Miss them but not their sleep habits
Movie night last night with friends. Walk at the lake todsy, stop at the library. Watch the women’s US Open Final (2 American women in the final that I haven’t seen before, so am interested even though I probably wouldn’t normally watch). FINALLY finish 2016 taxes (terrible accountant just sent them) while watching. Trying a new recipe of sloppy Joe’s on sweet potatoes. Bike tomorrow. Go to the fish ladder to watch salmon. Review any emails D1 sends with wedding photographer options, and be her sounding board as requested for wedding decisions & angst. Listen to D2 complain about whiny lab students who want better grades.
