Really bad, sad week with so much of it happening in Orlando this week.
But let’s remember, life is good. What happened good in your life this week?
For me in the last week, my D’s sent me daily silly emojis of their faces in various glamorous, wicked and scary forms. I laugh daily.
And I was happy a local small town homegrown young lady and friend of my kids won a Tony for being a cast member of Hamilton. So l guess that means dreams do come true.
I rejoice in many things: health, relative financial security, the opportunity every day to do something I’m interested in and get paid for it.
I am not very happy about the current political alternatives in our country, but i do remind myself every day that we still live in a Jeffersonian democracy with checks and balances.
I am thankful to have my daughter with me this summer. She is working hard at her internship and focusing on her goals. She is also trying to relax and have fun. Her presence gives me comfort. I am thankful this week is almost over and hope to have a relaxing weekend ahead.

I rejoice in the fact in that my husband and kids are healthy, and very happy. Though my youngest will be a lot happier when he gets a software engineering job, at least until then, he seems busy and peaceful. And in the end, that’s all I really care about, is the people in my life being well and happy.
I have lots of sunflowers blooming and peaches have come to the farmer’s market. Who can’t be happy to see that?
And I finally, finally got the leaky garage roof redone. They put a new gutter on too and got all OCD about mitering the corners and making it pretty. Can’t argue with a pretty gutter!
H, S, D, SIL, and I were together at a family event last weekend. We were able to stay together in a suite, eat meals together, and just hang out together. We had lots of laughs. Simple, but fills my heart with joy.
A mom of a former student called to say that he’s thriving and getting a 4.0 at his new school and wants my help with PhD programs.
I went to a beautiful baptism of a healthy baby who was quiet and calm through the whole operation, including being passed around to 25 friends and relatives. I call that a miracle!
My husband and I got to visit two new countries, Austria and Slovakia. What wonderful history, music, art, and cake. Boy, can they do cake.
My 13-year-old is on an extended trip with his grandparents and really getting to know them without parents around.
My 18-year-old has a summer job in my office and everyone is extremely pleased with her work.
We had a family friend’s teenager here last weekend which required us to squire her around to different activities. Friday night fireworks in Waikiki, USS Arizona Tour, Manoa Falls hike, snorkeling on North Shore, body surfing at Sandys. It’s good to be “forced” to enjoy where you live.
I am very grateful for each and every day. Thanks so much for asking!
We have been on a trip to see my MD and the amazing medical team he’s assembled. They have all been very caring, thoughtful and thorough in their assessments, which has helped answer a lot of questions that have arisen recently.
Our D flew to be with us in Denver to help us be sure we asked the many important questions and were accurate at reporting my symptoms.
We are still awaiting more test results but I feel VERY fortunate to have this caring medical team, great insurance, and a wonderful H and D to help me get the care I need.
This has been a week with lots of scary moments revolving around an almost “made for TV” family saga…It is still unfolding…
On the bright side, my little niece just arrived - she is staying with us this summer because she is taking classes at a local U during summer quarter. She is such a fine young lady! Amazingly level-headed, smart kid, and a real delight to talk to. I keep telling my sister that she is a fine parental unit. Sis shakes her head, laughs and points to my nephew… And niece passed the “drinking test” (she is 21) with flying colors: it took her an hour to enjoy a glass of zin with dinner…
Another tough week here. Found out that my college boyfriend passed away.
On the good side, I have decided that the Seattle “freeze” (rumored to exist socially to new people) is a complete myth. After only a few months in town, my social calendar is packed, far more than it ever was in the state I lived in for 30 years. Went to a fascinating presentation tonight on gravitational waves. So glad I made this move!
Both kids are very happy this week with their respective endeavors. Happy kids, happy mom.
Scored face value Hamilton tickets. Can’t wait until tomorrow when I see my 80 year old parents that we are gifting them tickets as they’ve been wanting to go.
Health and relative financial comfort. Kids who stay in touch and are finishing their advanced degrees. The internet. Part-time work from home that I enjoy.
Both DS’s are happy, healthy and thriving in their careers. One is turning 30 today! I feel old, but happy. Now, just need to get DH to deal with his health issue… Otherwise all is well.
My foster kittens are helping me write this post. They have grown immensely from when we got them at 5 days old until today - 2 month old healthy sweet companions. Today is a big day. They are heading up to the shelter and will hopefully be adopted. It feels great!
Both kids home for a brief time, one brought bread and cake he had baked himself. I am healing from surgery and had a day when I could swim/bike/run in the same day.
