"Lightly" reviewing for SAT

I’m a sophmore right now and I want to get into SAT reviewing for next year. I do a lot of things right like reading lots of books, I subscribed myself to SAT problems of the day and word of the day, etc. things like that.

Obviously (I think) I shouldn’t worry about the speed of my testing right now and focus more on understanding the questions. Right now, everyday after school, I go to the library for 2-3 hours and do sections from the College Board SAT book taking breaks whenever I feel I need them. Is this good for right now?

Yes, it’s good. You don’t really need to do many things now if you arn’t planning on taking it your sophmore year because you’ll forget most of it once you actaully take it. Keep studying and you can even take the test your sophmore year just to get used to it.

I don’t know because I’m only taking Algebra II right now and I’m doing Pre-Cal/Trig next year so most of the SAT things in Math I don’t know well enough to take the test.

But if I decide to take the SAT this year…should I start doing sections the way the person says in the sticky above. Such as 30 minute sections to get used to the time?

Actually, AlgII is highest SAT math goes, don’t sweat abt SAT Math. Do Barron’s Workbook/ PRs–u’ll be fine. Remember, SAT is a game, u don’t really have to comprehensive (except for CR prep)
U want to take SAT This year—if there’s specific reason and if u think like ur junior ur would be too hectic, then go ahead and take on in May or June. Prepare for it, don’t take it easily. Again, don’t be overly anxious abt this TEST.
One more thing, search CC (which I guess u’ve already done so) and u’ll get tons of infos. Plus, I tried SAT Question of the DAy for almost a year and for me, it doesn’t work out, it’s simply not a good idea since it’s really sporadic and one question a day. So, I suggest u to spend that time on reading newspapers and all.
Hope that helps.

Ok, thanks a lot. I’ll definately bump up on the reading and I’ll consider taking it this year.

You seem to be in a good position to go for National Merit next year; keep that in mind. Prepping for the SAT will also prep you for the PSAT.

I would recommend taking the SAT junior year. If you are taking AlgII right now, you have the opportunity to finish the highest SAT maths without taking the SAT late; in fact, you can still take it early. Take it at the beginning of nex year to get it over with.

Yes that sounds like a good plan  good luck
