Like what the actual heck is wrong with school?!

Here’s the list of things I’ve done during high school-

3.9gpa, 1350 SAT, no honors/AP classes, no extracurriculars, no teacher recommendations, nothing.

Why? Because the school never let me do things. Now I’m 19, and I’ve been rejected from ALL COLLEGES for the second year in a row. I keep trying to explain my desperate situation, and receive the to be expected indifference. Colleges aren’t empathetic to such a bizarre “fairy-tale” high school experience that I’ve been known to.

For the love of god, I just wanted a better education, now I can’t even go to college?! Why should my unfortunate academic history have any affects to receiving a good education now?! I cannot HELP the fact that I was denied everything everyone else has the right to! So here I am, on my “SECOND” gap year… What do I do? What am I supposed to do? I’ve graduated high school, so there’s nothing I could do to change my awful transcript.

Heck, most colleges I applied to turned me down on the basis of the lack of teachers reccomendation. How is it my fault that the teachers I ask refuse to give me one?

What happened to AU?

Same thing that happened to St.Olaf- Both are awful universities. Why can’t I receive a decent education? Why must I be relegated to these terrible schools, just because of something out of my control?

Community college will hopefully help you improve your stats and mature.

What are you talking about? I’m a high school graduate? And what do you mean “mature”- I want a good education, and good schools only admit those who’ve managed to have good opportunities. So just because I lack them, you blame me? What are you trying to insinuate?

There are lots of schools that require zero recommendations. Good schools. State schools often don’t care about that or ECs. Perhaps you are not looking broadly enough.

As @tomsrofboston has said, community college can improve your stats and then you can apply for a transfer.

Not trying to be mean or anything, but not doing extracurriculars and asking teachers for recommendation letters is because of you

If you have a 3.9, how awful can your transcript be?

Doing well community college classes would show that you are capable of college level work and give you a new set of instructors that might be willing to write you a letter. Don’t sit out another year.

So, you believe that you were entitled to teachers’ recommendations, just because of your GPA and SAT score, correct? What have you been doing during gap year #1?

Also, @Ethanvolcano21: Chill out. Relax. People who respond on these forums are only here to help you.

“Why must I be relegated to these terrible schools”
Have you ever thought that your tone in your applications might have thing to do with your rejection?

Any if you really want a great education, CC is a really great way to start as many have said instead of waste another gap year.

Here is an idea. Google which schools are still accepting applications. Then cross check which of those don’t require recs. Apply to those.

You could get a perfectly fine education at AU or St. Olaf. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, go to school, work hard, and then transfer if you can. Whining about your horrible high school education will do you no good.

I’ve read your other threads. You seem to jump around a bit. In some it sounds like you’re saying you were forbidden to take certain classes or to participate in any ECs, but in others it sounds like you dropped honors courses because you just didn’t like them and you didn’t do ECs because you felt your classmates were too immature. I think you should quit trying to explain things to colleges because I don’t think it’s helping. If you don’t have any acceptances for this fall, you can always start at a cc. Lots of people do.

“So, you believe that you were entitled to teachers’ recommendations, just because of your GPA”

First of all, lets just assume Yes for sake of argument. this isn’t the case, however, but lets just say it is- So what? If you attend a class for years, perform well, and contribute, why wouldn’t the teacher right you a letter? Is it because of english

And second- No, the reason I didn’t get letters was because I transfered schools alot, and many schools have 2 year staying requirements. I mean… If you can’t help moving and stuff, why am I at fault for that?

“and SAT score, correct”

My SAT is terrible. It literally is awful. I take responsibility for not studying for it, but I also don’t because I believe my terrible education had alot to do with it.

“What have you been doing during gap year #1?”

Crying. Literally crying and staying home with my abusive parents.

“Doing well community college classes would show that you are capable of college level work”

No… Selfstudying subjects will dothat. Why the hell would I relegate myself back to calculus, when I’m trying to do Analysis? Why would I go back two years in biology, when I have a organic chem/Biochemistry book right at home that I spent with my own money?

No, CC is for failures and not-smart people who can’t do crud with their silly laughable lives.

“Don’t sit out another year”

Going to a bad school would be no different. A

“Not trying to be mean or anything, but not doing extracurriculars and asking teachers for recommendation letters is because of you”

how? I ask to participate, they do not let me. How is that my fault? If I can’t do a thing, even though every other student has the right to that thing, why can’t I also participate in that thing?

Also the letter thing was due to school transfers. Another thing I could not help.

Since everyone including your parents are at fault, there is very little anyone can do to help you resolve this situation,

You will either need to accept it for what it is, make the best of what is possible and consider CC or any other place that is willing to accept you or waste another year feeling sorry for yourself.

If you are not using your Gap year in a productive way to improve yourself, the longer you wait harder it will be for you to fix it. Waiting for one more year will not make your teachers write those letters that you feel will help you.

Time to move on…
Good luck

“I’ve read your other threads. You seem to jump around a bit”

I hvae a compliated situation/

“In some it sounds like you’re saying you were forbidden to take certain classes or to participate in any ECs”

Correct. I asked to join academic stuff, was disallowed.

“but in others it sounds like you dropped honors courses”

I had only chem Honors and AP biology, but I got depressed and started homeschooliong. That’s why. It wasn’t my choice to “drop” those classes.

“you didn’t do ECs because you felt your classmates were too immature”

What? Where’d you get that from? That’s not true at all. I only expressed my absolute contempt for those who had the opportunity to do stuff I wasn’t allowed to do, and were immature.

“I think you should quit trying to explain things to colleges because I don’t think it’s helping”

None of you are helping.

“If you don’t have any acceptances for this fall, you can always start at a cc. Lots of people do”

Lots of losers and dropouts who suck at life. People who HAVE opportunities but don’t do crap with them. Anyone could theoretically ask to take Honors/AP/Ec’s, but most choose not to. They’re F students and go to CC becayse they’re awful.
